2008 BSD World Championship Agility Team SelectedThe second and final selection day for the 2008 Belgian Shepherd Dog Agility World Championships was held at Steve Croxford's venue near Hinckley on Sunday, 16 March. The intention was to use the grass paddock as, up until Saturday morning, it was in a usable condition. Unfortunately continuous rain for 24 hours meant it was unsafe to do so by Sunday morning. Another option was to use a nearby field but with an increasingly strong and freezing wind, it would have been even worse there. The entries have to be sent in next week so the options were to cancel and go on the first selection day results or run in the sand arena. The decision was made to use the sand arena. Steve adjusted the courses accordingly, keeping the key FCI elements although in a smaller area. Many of the features seen at previous BSD world championships were included in the courses. All together this made for a very tough text. A points system similar to the one used for Agility Warrants was used with double points for Agility, but interestingly the results were the same as those done on a straight faults and time basis. In the team representing Great Britain and the individual competition are
Also qualifying for the Individual competition are:-
The substantial amount required to send the team is raised by the Belgian Shepherd Dog Association of Great Britain and the Working Belgian Shepherd Dog Society who jointly manage the whole enterprise. Many thanks go to the ring party -
Semi-Finalists Chosen for BSD Worlds Team
The arena and weather were perfect. Judge Steve Croxford set very challenging and interesting courses that were very 'FCI.' The standard was very high particularly from those dogs and handlers with previous WC experience. The people new to event also did very well and now have a good understanding of what is needed to compete at this level. The handlers and dogs that will train throughout the winter and attend a final selection day next spring in no particular order are:-
Mike Bacon will continue as Team Manager for the Great Britain BSD Agility Team. A big thank you to Steve Croxford for facilitating and judging the events and to the ring party and organisers from the BSD Association of GB and the Working BSD Society for make the event run so well. Also well done to the ring party and organisers from the BSD Association of GB and Working BSD Society for making it run so well. GB Team Selection DatesThe WBSDS and the BSDA of Great Britain are pleased to announce the selection dates for the agility team to represent Great Britain at the FMBB World Championships in Ljubljana (Slovenia) from 8 - 11 May 2008. The selection will take place in two stages. The first event will be held on Sunday, 14 October 2007 when a squad of 16 dogs will be selected. The selected dogs will train during the winter and then attend a second selection event on Sunday, 23 March 2008 when the final squad of eight handlers and dogs will be selected for the individual competition. Also the best four from the selected eight handlers and dogs will be chosen for the team competition. Both selection events will be performance based, under FCI rules and run in a similar format to the WC. Both selection events will be facilitated and judged by Steve Croxford at a venue on the A5 between Hinckley and Lutterworth. Full details of selection and registration forms are available from the website of either Society http://www.wbsds.org.uk/bsdwc2008.htm or http://www.bsdaofgb.co.uk/agility.htm BSD World Championships 2007

The selection
day for the Great Britain Agility Team for the FMBB Belgian Shepherd Dog 2007 World
Championship on 10-13 May 2007 took place on Saturday, 24 March. The competition was outside in
a large grass paddock to match the venue for the World Championships. It was fortunate that the
weather stayed dry but it gradually changed from cold and overcast to freezing and very windy
which caused problem with the electronic timing.
A lively, good natured competition took place with a lot of excellent runs over four very challenging courses - two Agility and 2 Jumping. Double individual world champion Andy Brown with Skye are entitled to compete in the Individual competition as defending champions. Eight other handlers and dogs can also compete in the Individual competition, four of which from those nine can compete in the Team competition.
Both the Individual and Team selection were done entirely on the success in the selection competition. The Team will consist of the following handlers and dogs.

The 2007 FMBB Belgian Shepherd Dog World Championships will be held in La Touquet France, about 45 minutes drive from Calais. As well as Agility, there will be World Championship competition in IPO, Mondio Ring, (two disciplines similar to Patrol Dog level working trials) Obedience and Breed showing and assessments. Details can be found at http://chienplus.com/fmbb2007/
The sponsoring societies Belgian Shepherd Dog Association of Great Britain and the Working Belgian Shepherd Dog would like to thank Steve Croxford for facilitating the event, judging and providing a range of FCI type courses that simulated those at the world championships. Also ensuring the day ran smoothly were the team manager Mike Bacon, June Le Fevre who scribed and provided the running orders, score sheets, accumulator sheet, and most importantly hot drinks and biscuits, and Ken and Sue Bowe who were time keeper, and scorer. June and Sue compiled the accumulator sheet, and Margy Pratten provided overall adjudication.
