FCI Agility World Championships

Docked Tails Ruling

The FCI World Agility Championships 2007 is to be held in Norway. Since 1997 the showing of docked tailed dogs has been prohibited in this country.

As a consequence. The Kennel Club has been informed that dogs with docked tails may not compete at this year’s Agility World Championships. To include such a dog in the Kennel Club’s team could lead to the dog’s owner breaking Norwegian law. Therefore, regrettably, dogs with docked tails should not be entered in the FCI Team qualifying trials to be held later this year.

The Kennel Club regrets this action. However to compete in Norway, everyone must respect Norwegian Law.

Norway to Host 2007 World Championships

The Norwegian Kennel Klub has agreed to host the 2007 FCI World Agility Championships after Portugal pulled out at the end of the 2006 World Champsionships in Basle.

At the time five countries expressed an interest in hosting the event. In the end, only Norway sent in an application, so it was agreed the FCI World Agility Championships 2007 would be held in Hamar. The dates will be 28-30 September 2007 as the Hall is not available in October.

The Hamar Olympia Amfi/Hall was built for the Olympics 1994 as an arena to host ice hockey games, figure skating and short track skating distances. It is Europe's largest wooden building and was voted the Norwegian Building of the Century in 1999.

It has a capacity of 6,000 spectators and is often used for concerts. There is also an extra hall, which offers such facilities as collecting rings, warming up areas, wardrobes etc.

Hamar town is situated at the lake Mjøsa in beautiful surroundings within one hour ride by train from Oslo International Airport – Gardemoen.

Hamar is also easy accessible by other public means of transportation/bus or by car. The hotel accommodation in Hamar is very good, and most places allow dogs.

The Norwegian Kennel Klub has every year since 1994 arranged its Winner Dog Show of the Year in Hamar and has thus far very good experience with Hamar as a hosting partner for such events. This year there will be almost 6000 entries for the dog show, Nordic Winner Dog Show, and for the Agility competitions 400 competitors a day!
