Just for dogs who hunt or retrieve

A few years ago, flat coat owners Karen and Richard Outten launched a gundog league for agility dogs belonging to the sporting group who, by definition, assist in hunting and retrieving, be it furred or feathers. Common points include their very easy-going temperaments - although there are slight variations - and the fact that they do not make much noise.

Keep the entries coming in - the more the merrier. Visit www.gundog-agility.co.uk or send a SAE to The Gundog League, 23 Buckingham Road, Steeple Claydon, Bucks MK18 2QA for further information. Remember you can post/fax or email your entries.

Gundog Training Course Announced

The Gundog Club is pleased to announce the launch of its new Gundog Training Courses for Beginners.  Courses will run throughout the country this spring, and each will culminate in The Gundog Club’s Grade One test.

The Gundog Club aims to introduce more gundog owners to the sport of gundog training, helping people channel their pet’s natural desires and talents into a useful and exciting activity. The new Grade One courses will provide support for beginners following The Gundog Club’s graded training scheme.

Taught only by Gundog Club Accredited Assessors, each course is accepting a maximum of six students for eight weekly, one hour, sessions. Over the eight weeks, students will train their dogs in basic obedience and simple retrieving, in preparation for the Grade One test, which will take place in the final week. Fourteen courses are available to book online now, with more being added regularly.

For further information, visit www.thegundogclub.co.uk/Training/courses, email admin@thegundogclub.co.uk, or ring tel. 01428 717529.

Important Changes for 2006

An annual fee has been introduced this year to help cover the costs of administration of the Gundog Agility League which is currently funded by Karen Outten. The cost will be £2.00 per household. Payment can be made by cheque (payable to Mrs K. Outten), or by Paypal (ebay@gundog-agility.co.uk) or to Karen personally. Fees need to be paid by 1 August for points to be entered.

From July 2006, all point claims must be in within one month from the show date. This is to allow them to be updated on a more regular basis.  Therefore, you have until the 1 July to send points in for 1 April to 30 June 2006.

Download the 2006 claim form with the new contact details here.

The rules have been updated accordingly and can be downloaded here.

On a personal note, Karen and Richard are in the process of house hunting. Please look out for an address change in the next six months.
