A Veteran Pairs Partner for Dashin' Dogs I have a Staffie X who is a Large Grade 1 dog who would like a run on Monday, 9 April at Easter Dashin' Dogs show. We don't mind whether we go first or second, and don't be fooled by our grading, as although we have good and bad days - who doesn't - due to being only 1 icky little cm to big, poor old Max has to run as a Large. Stretching for those jumps has never been easy, and now old age is catching up! Measuring Feedback for KC Meeting You may have read in the minutes following the last Agility Council meeting that a working party has been formed to look at the procedure for the height classification of dogs. I am attending a meeting on the 7 February. If you have any positive constructive suggestions which you wish me to put forward, then please let me know. One thing that I intend to suggest is 'that if on the second measurement the dogs changes its classification, then a third should be undertaken by two independent measurers. Agility and Flyball Teams for Demo at Blenheim
Animal Sanctuary The sanctuary works tirelessly to save the animals such as unwanted Chinchillas, Parrots, Greyhounds and other dogs. The owner is in need of a hip operation. To have this operation she needs to have someone to look after the animals and this will cost her money she doesn't have. She's the sort of lady whom works so many hours in the day it makes me ashamed to say I work. But not only does she run the Sanctuary, but she walks dogs everyday as well as her own. She travels from house to house and walks them and lets out cats and feeds them. With the backing of the Kennel Club, we have every single part of this show sponsored right down to the insurance and cost of the fee for a licence to hold this event. The show date is 17 June 2007 and the venue is Blenheim Animal Sanctuary at Pampisford, nr. Sawston Cambridgeshire., just five minutes drive from the M11 junction 10 Duxford Airfield. Advice on Leg Problem Wanted
We have a 12 year old English Setter who has been very healthy her entire life. Now she has developed a very unusual problem where her hind legs straighten out involuntarily when she gets excited or when she runs. This does not appear to cause any pain, but does hinder her ability to walk around. Have you ever heard of this problem, or is there a cure? We have had her to the Vet, and her joints are fine. Toy or Miniature Poodle to Train in Agility I am 13 years old. I belong to The Young Kennel Club and have been to camp. I have a JRT whom I have been competing with for a while and a collie whom I train and hoping to compete with this spring. Agility & Disability
I live in Canada and I have taken my dog to Levels 1 and 2 agility. I use a scooter to compensate for very bad balance. I have a very large back yard and have set up some equipment for my three dogs. However, I am concerned about the kind of surface the dogs should be training on. Grass is nice but I am not sure if that is the safest for either my dogs or me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Insurance Query Our cocker spaniel Jess is 12 years old and suffers from pancreatitis. We are considering not renewing our insurance as the company has increased the payments to £435.40 per year, excess £115 plus 20% of remaining cost. Having just retired as well, this seems quite excessive but, at her time of life, it would find it difficult to reinsure her. Meeting Place I am trying to find a mutually convenient place to meet friends with dogs next Saturday 24 March. I reckon that Northampton is about half way for both of us. Advice on
Lurcher Desperately seeking experienced Lurcher owners for constructive and helpful advice on a delinquent dog. He is basically a good dog at heart but he just won't stop doing a runner - sometimes in front of cars - when off lead and will not stop when i tell him. I think he was used for coursing before I got him but there has got to be a way to get through to him. I just don't know enough about the breed to find it (although i have one from a pup that one is fine). The new one is four years old and I don't know where to start. Please help! for Barrow I have just recently moved to Fraserburgh which is 40 miles from Aberdeen.
