Sometimes it's love at first sight. Sometimes it takes a little longer to find the right one - and they might have been there all the time. If you are still looking for that special dog, here are some dogs who are ‘still looking’ for their special homes. They've all been submitted to Agilitynet because someone out there thought they had the potential to become good agility dogs. Some may require a little extra time and patience to help them, but with the right home, a little extra time and patience, one of them could be the dog of your dreams. We will keep them on this page for six months and then, unless we hear differently, remove them to make way for other dogs.

Description: He is a very, very playful boy who just loves a game of football, and enjoys the company of people.

FREUD

History: Freud came into Gables Farm Dogs' & Cats' Home as a stray so we do not have any history about him.
Description:
Freud is a very energetic, bright, intelligent dog. He loves to play and is highly toy motivated. He seems to have possession problems over food and toys so would suit an old dog or home or experienced handler.
Rehoming criteria:
He would benefit from an active home, someone who could channel his energy and intelligence, an agility home would be ideal for this bright boy. Will only be rehomed to someone in Devon and Cornwall area.

LARCH

History: Larch originally came from the Animal Welfare Trust. He has lived happily with his new family for two years, but his teenage owner is now going abroad to work and the family doesn't feel that they can give him the time and attention that he deserves
Description: Larch is a black and white lurcher. He is a very gentle, good-natured dog who lives happily with cats and children of all ages, including toddlers. He has stayed with a family of four agility dogs when his own family has gone on holiday and settled down happily with them, including going to the occasional agility show as a spectator dog. He likes to play and be involved in whatever is going on around him but doesn't mind being left when necessary. He would make a wonderful fun agility dog that can join in the game while still being very undemanding and easy to live with
Rehoming criteria: A pet home would be just as welcome as a working home.

LUX

History: Lux was brought in as his owners started a new job and couldn’t give him the time he deserves. He was adopted, but was brought back as they said he guarded the dishwasher!
Description: Lux is a stunning tri-colour collie crossed with something else? He is extremely loyal, loves to please. He enjoys anything that we put in front of him, agility, obedience clicker training etc. We have seen no behavioural problems, no aggression, just an amazingly willing happy dog.
Rehoming criteria: We would like Lux to go to an active home, possibly agility. We would also ask that he would not be left all day. Video

DODGE

History: We bought Dodge just over four years ago from a place in the New Forest. We were told that he was a rescue dog from a farm in Wales, simply an unwanted puppy from a sheep dog litter. We bought him as a family pet, with a view to perhaps getting involved in agility classes. He had some basic obedience training before starting agility which we attended for about a year. He progressed well. However, due to family commitments and other personal reasons, we had to stop attending.
Description: Dodge is a handsome tri-colour Collie, slim, not skinny, intelligent, affectionate, and generally good tempered. He loves to play fetch, but can become over excited. I know he could do well in agility given the right trainer and with some patience.
Rehoming
criteria: Dodge needs a home where he would receive attention and stimulation. He needs a firm understanding of his place in the home but will bring great rewards. He is a really lovely dog.

Interim Report: Ben is still looking. He was rehomed briefly with a nice couple but they found him too difficult. That's why I feel a working home is what is needed. Fingers crossed. He deserves a break. (13/5?08)

BEN

History: Ben has been on a rough ride so far. Having suffered taunting and neglect, he had lost trust in people. Having been in rescue kennels for more than a year, he now desperately needs someone of his own. With training and re-hab, he has learned to trust again and has now begun to realise that life is good and needs someone to carry on with his progress.
Description: A handsome black and white boy, has a great sense of fun and would give his all for the right person! He has shown great ability in learning new things and would be a fabulous prospect for agility or flyball .He is a muscular power house but very controllable with a soft side and beautiful eyes. He would bond easily with the right person. He's had food guarding issues in the past,  now resolved, but would need a reward-based feeding regime. Has been hit by a car so although lots of work done with great success any owner would need to be aware of this reactivity possibility. Not particularly good with other dogs but a lot better in a few short weeks of training so hopefully he will overcome this.
Rehoming criteria: Ben needs an experienced home in which he could have the love, understanding, exercise and ongoing training he needs to continue the  progress he has been making. New owners should be able to be strong, fair and consistent with lots of praise and reward. Ongoing support offered
Child friendly:
Has lived with children but probably older ones would be better 12+
Able to live with cats:
Probably not
Age: 2-3 years

RIOT (formerly XANTHIPPEE)

History: Riot was one of the four X Litter which were found as strays which ended up in the pound. As their time was up Many Tears took them in. Three have already found agility homes. He has now gone to a foster home with Leah Gardner where he has been rehomed and renamed.
Description: Riot is a real good looking blue and tan, strong and stunning lad. He is a fantastic dog who loves a game and is ready to please. He has adapted well to living in a house and very quickly learnt that were we sit was by far the warmest and most comfy seat in the house! He responds well to training, and very quickly understood that this is not on. In agility terms, he may make a Medium as he is the same size as my 17 weeks old collie (See pic). Video: Video
Rehoming criteria: This is a highly intelligent dog that will need a very specific home. Whoever wants this dog must be knowledgeable about Kelpies - not just think he is pretty! They must  have a highly active life, where the dog is involved 99% of the time (maybe agility or flyball?) His new owners must be patient. He is very independent and it takes a lot of time and effort to get him to want to work with you and not the other dogs. And finally must have a friend for him as he loves to play. If you love a challenge, brains and beauty then he is for you.
Child friendly: Ri is quite keen on our cats,
Able to live with cats: Yes
Age: 22 weeks
Sex: Both
Neutered: Not yet, but must be when old enough
Vaccinated: Yes
Micro-chipped: Yes
Flea sprayed & wormed: Yes
Cost: Adoption fee

Interim report: This special boy is still with me!We have come a long way. Ri' now has a good re-call, is a bit braver about walking when cars pass him and will now play tuggy with great gusto! He is still as driven and as busy as he ever was, and really needs something to channel this into. I have done a tiny amount of agility with him and I think he would be good at this, but does still need time on not being quite so over the top watching it. He will be a fantastic dog for the right person, and it worries me that he has been here so long as I don't want his life to be turned upside down when he finds a new home. He really loves to play with other dogs, so I would defiantly want him in a home where there are friends for him! Ri' is too obsessed with cats, and although we have 2 and 3 foster kittens, I would never leave him with them and I have to be very careful with this. I don't believe he wants to harm them, but he is so obsessed with them that he will lie with his nose all but touching them shaking and whining in anticipation. He loves a cuddle and has learnt to jump into my arms on command. He never fails to make me smile! I wish I could find somebody who loves him as much as I do! (27/06/08)
