Lucky dogs

The story doesn't always end with the hero/heroine riding off into the sunset but these dogs have been given another chance. We don't always know where they go, but when we do hear anything, we will try to pass on the news. This month 9 dogs found new homes, many of them going to agility homes so watch out them on the show circuit.

Dogs are featured in alphabetical order.

Happy Ending: Cassie has been rehomed.  (18/03/2008)

CASSIE

History: Cassie was a stray who came to us from the pound.
Description: We think that Cassie is possibly a collie X Staffie. She is between the size of a Collie and a Staffie. She has bundles of energy is quick to learn and obedient, especially her recall. She is very good with other dogs and loves people. She can pull on the lead and does require more work in this area. Travels well in the car.
Rehoming criteria: Cassie will need a home where someone is prepared to put in some training. This girl is so lovely and deserves to find a forever home.

Happy Ending: Jake the BC has also been homed to an agility friend. He is now called King.  (11/03/2008)

JAKE

History: Jake came from farm breeding and was purchased as a puppy. He has been much loved and cared for but it is with great sadness the daughter in the family is terribly allergic to him, so we have been asked to get him a super new home.
DescriptionJake has no hang-ups whatsoever. He has a wonderful nature with people, children and dogs. As you you can see he is a very handsome tri colour collie, with a lovely a long coat and wonderful semi pricked ears. He is a busy, busy, boy and loves playing with his toys, and other dogs. This collie would make a superb agility/obedience prospect. He is very obedient both on and off the lead, good in the car, basically we cannot fault him one bit.

Happy Ending: Jake has been rehomed. (24/03/2008)

JAKE

History: Irish rescue who is remarkably unscathed for being an unwanted pet kept in a shed for nine months. Now in foster in the UK and is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Description: Jake is a medium-sized, stunning black collie x – very affectionate, boisterous, active but not hyper. This boy wants to be much more than just a much-loved pet -although that too of course! He gets on well with other dogs, although needs more socialisation because of his early months and because he is alpha-material.
Rehoming criteria: We’re looking for an experienced, positive, active home for Jake because he is bold, swift and nimble, smart and very quick to learn.
Child friendly:
Yes – although does jump up.
Able to live with cats: Not known but he’s very interested in foster home’s rabbit and hens!
Age: 11 months

Happy Ending:  Jasmine has now gone to her new home - experienced owners who are contemplating venturing into the world of agility or flyball. Fingers crossed.

JASMINE

History: Jasmine was bought as a family pet after their elderly dog died. She has been physically well cared for and has suffered no overt ill treatment or abuse. However, as often happens, she proved much livelier and more demanding than the previous dog and ended up being shut away in the kitchen for most of the day.
Description: Black/white WSD. Jasmine is a very sociable dog with no behavioural problems beyond a little chewing of the kitchen cushions. She has had so little owner input; she is more like a dog of six months of age than a year. She has had a small amount of basic training and this is being extended at the Rescue Centre. She has had little experience of traveling in vehicles.
Rehoming criteria:
Jasmine deserves to go to a new home with an owner who can introduce her to a much more active and stimulating lifestyle with hopefully training and agility as part of her development. A home with another dog(s) would be preferred but is not essential.
Child friendly:
Yes, has lived with children of 7, 13 and 15 without problems.
Able to live with cats: Yes, friendly but excitable, has lived with family cat
Age: 13 months
Sex: Bitch
Neutered: Not yet.
Vaccinated: Yes

Happy Ending: Katie has found a fabulous new home with 2 other Kelpies, a Huntaway and a Bassett Hound, 400 acres where she can be out and about.  (11/03/2008)

KATIE

History: Katie was found as a stray pup.
Description: She is a black and tan Kelpie X. Katie has boundless energy, drive and enthusiasm. Lots of stamina too. She loves everything and everyone and loves to be cuddled and to be centre stage. She lives life at 100mph – until she collapses at night when it is 0mph. She has a cheesy, toothy grin when she is excited and happy. She is a good traveller and has no major faults really.
Rehoming criteria: Katie needs a home where her intelligence can be harnessed and where she can fulfill her potential. She is a quick learner and is at the age where she is soaking everything up like a sponge.
She is so deserving of a home where she can do a job. She loves other dogs and adores people.
Child friendly: Yes
Able to live with cats: Yes, but under supervision. Katie might chase cats outside if left to her own devices, but knows to leave the cats alone indoors.
Age: Approximately 8 months (best guess but not known for sure)

Micro-chipped: Not yet

ROBBIE

History: No history as Robbie was a pound dog rescued when seven days were up.
Description: Robbie is a lively and boisterous puppy. He is responsive and quick to learn and is good with dogs and cats, but not ducks!
Rehoming criteria: Robbie would enjoy an active home and someone who would let him use his intelligence in a positive way, we think agility would be perfect for him.

ROSIE

History: Rosie went into a dog pound as a pregnant stray. She had the puppies in the pound and was then due to be put to sleep. We heard of her plight and rescued her to give her a chance.
Description Rosie is very bright, intelligent and very friendly, sweet little dog who also gets on with other dogs.

Happy Ending: Susie has found her perfect new home. Thank you for placing her on your site. Anne  (24/03/2008)

SUSIE

History: Her owners felt they couldn't cope with a young bouncy Collie.
Description: Susie is a very active young girl who hadn't received the necessary training a young dog needs, she has however come on leaps and bounds in her foster home and now knows all the basic commands. A very intelligent dog and keen student, she loves to learn new things and is very eager to please. Susie is toilet trained, travels well in the car and can be left alone for up-to an hour without problems, if left for longer periods she does become destructive. She is friendly towards everyone she meets, including children of all ages and other dogs. This girl loves to play, her favourite game being fetch, which she would happily play for hours on end.
Rehoming criteria: She will need a minimum of two hours of off-lead exercise daily, as well as plenty of stimulating mind games. Susie is looking for someone who will be willing to do agility or similar activities with her on a regular basis. Her new owners should have owned Collies before and will live in a rural or semi-rural area.

Interim Report: Tess did go out on a trial period but unfortunately the other dog in the family (a terrier) hated her so much that poor Tess had a rotten time. She is such a sweet collie. (24/02/2008)

Happy Ending: Tess has gone to a horsey life. (10/03/2008)

TESS

History: Tess was farm bred and purchased by a family who have really loved her. She is a strong collie who has run rings around the lady in the family. She started to nip the lady's heels/leg as she was walking about.
Description: Tess is a smooth coat collie with lovely pricked ears, a little on the dumpy side but she has just been put on a weight watchers programme! She is a lovely friendly dog with people and children and other dogs. She meets and greets everyone like her long lost friends. She also pulled like a stream train on the lead. Tess needs to be working and doing something more than just being solely a pet dog.
Rehoming criteria: Good knowledgeable home for Tess as she needs some ground work put into her. A very agile collie, she would be a good prospect for agility/obedience/flyball.
