Lucky dogs

The story doesn't always end with the hero/heroine riding off into the sunset but these dogs have been given another chance. We don't always know where they go, but when we do hear anything, we will try to pass on the news. This month 36 dogs found new homes, many of them going to agility homes so watch out them on the show circuit.

Dogs are featured in alphabetical order.

Happy Ending: Just to let you know that I have found a very good home for Alfie, not in the agility arena, but with a lady who has been Beating for 15 years and is very much a dog person. She absolutely adores him after only 1 week! (15/02/2008)

ALFIE

History: Alfie was showing great potential at agility, before I fractured my ankle last July. I have since suffered from further foot problems, making it impossible for me to run Alfie round an agility course as he is very fast!
Description: He is a medium-sized Springer Spaniel who is loving, gentle, playful and biddable.
Rehoming criteria: Alfie desperately needs a good loving home where he can receive lots of attention, and a chance to take part in agility as he needs the mental stimulation. As he is trained on all the equipment, he would make a good agility dog for a child if they have the patience for Spaniel moments.

AMBER

History: Amber lived with a old lady who has now has moved into a flat without a garden so sadly could not keep her.
Description: Amber is a scruffy, lively excitable and very fast ball of fluff, and a very sweet little dog. She is a white and tan, semi long coated  Terrier cross.

Happy Ending: Very pleased to say that Archie has found an Agility/Flyball/Obedience home via Wiccaweys Collie Rescue (19/02/2008)

ARCHIE

History: Archie came to us as an unwanted X-mas pressie. He was bought from a farm and sadly for his owners he didn't come ready trained!
Description: He is mainly black & white and a very clever little boy. We have done a little training with him and picks things up very quickly. He will be very handsome and make a great agility/flyball/trials dog. Archie just loves to play with toys with people or other dogs. He is great in the car, crate trained and almost housetrained.
Rehoming criteria: We would prefer that this little chap goes to an active home who will understand the reality of living with a puppy with but the effort will reap rewards. An active home where he will be one of the family is just what he needs

Happy Ending: Arnie was been rehomed last weekend. (27/02/08)

ARNIE

History: Arnie has come to Wiccaweys from his owners. He had been a Christmas present. Unfortunately his previous home didn't appreciate exactly how active, busy and intelligent a farm bred collie puppy would be.
Description: Arnie is a lovely little lad. He is good with other dogs. Arnie is a really creepy-crawly collie pup, who is desperate to bond with someone and learn. Arnie has lovely tri-colour markings, and his tri-colour bits are a gorgeous dark brindle colouring.

Happy Ending: Benjamin has just been rehomed into an agility home near Nottingham. (11/02/2008)

BENJAMIN

History: Benjamin was bought from a farm as a family pet and . Benjamin was reluctantly given to the Rescue Centre for rehoming because his family have had to relocate to a large town due to work commitments.
Description
: Benjamin is a wonderful tri-colour Border Collie puppy. He is a friendly, well socialised pup without health or behavioural issues who has not experienced any abuse or mal-treatment. He is showing all the positive qualities of a Collie without the edge that make some dogs more challenging to live with.
Rehoming
criteria: Staff at the Rescue Centre would love him to go to an experienced home with an owner prepared to take the time and effort to fulfil his potential as an agility dog. He could live comfortably with other dogs or as an only dog and although he has never met cats, he could be taught to live with one quite readily.

BORDER COLLIE RESCUE PUPPIES

History: These gorgeous little puppies have been rescued from a local farm in Wales. There may possibly be another three. We’ve been told - but cannot confirm - that two pups from a previous litter to the same sire and dam were competing in Agility at Crufts this year.
Description: 1 x tri colour bitch with speckled nose, 1 x tri colour dog and 1 x red and white dog. They are definitely not green!

CHARLIE

History: Charlie was rescued as a puppy and his history is unknown.
Description: Charlie is a very handsome tri-colour border collie. He is very active, very loyal and a very excited young dog. He has basic obedience like sitting, laying down and speaking on command. Unfortunately as a single parent and a full time student, I don't have the time to take Charlie for classes or to give him sufficient exercise which he so craves. He can be possessive of his food.
Rehoming criteria: Charlie would love a very active home, where someone could teach him agility, maybe even use him as a working dog.
Child friendly: Yes, very. He adores my little boy and follows him everywhere. Well, more like rounding him up.

Happy Ending: According to the Wiccaweys web site Floss has gone to a new home. (21/02/08)

FLOSS

History: Floss is a highly intelligent pup who has come to Wiccaweys from Ireland. She and her siblings were dumped at the pound.
Description: Well, what can we say about Floss? She is fabulous! She is extremely intelligent, highly active and very motivated. Floss needs a home where she will be doing something, whether it be agility, obedience, flyball, search and rescue or working stock. She needs to work. She is definitely not a pet collie!
Rehoming criteria: I love her to bits, and could so easily keep her myself - but I must be strong and let her go out and make her mark in the big wide world. I want to see her name in lights, Wiccaweys Fabulous Floss - agility/obedience champion!

Happy Ending: Crystal has been transferred to another rescue and they have requested that she be taken off the Rescue Me page, presumably because they are confident of rehoming her. (08/02/2008)

CRYSTAL

History: Crystal was withdrawn from the Guide Dog puppy scheme at the puppy stage because she has growled at small children. She has not had any formal Guide Dog training.
Description: Crystal is a black, short-coated German Shepherd Dog. She is very good around the house and is a pleasure to live with. Crystal enjoys playing with toys and loves to retrieve. She is good with other dogs and enjoys their company. She can pull on the lead and will require further training with this but off lead she is well behaved and her recall is excellent. She is quite small and slender for a GSD and is very responsive to vocal commands. She can turn on a sixpence!
Rehoming criteria: Crystal would benefit from an active home where she will have the opportunity to learn new skills and keep her brain busy, agility would be ideal.
Child friendly: We are looking for a home for her where there are no resident small children. She is fine with confident teenagers.
Able to live with cats: Yes – very confident cats only. She will chase if a cat runs.

Happy Ending: Dex has been rehomed. (16/02/08)

DEX

History: Dex has sadly come into us after owners change in work led him to be left for hours in a crate. He is in foster with other dogs and four children 8 to 16 years old.
Description: Dex is a leggy brindle lad who is a very loving and eager to please dog. His mum was a Boxer and we think maybe dad was a Staffie? He adores human company and that of other dogs. He tends to think he is lapdog as previous owners did not let him on furniture for cuddles but on their laps. He is getting worked on with this as he is a bit of a heavy lad to hold. He will need work with his recall, however he loves to play ball and is always first to go fetch it, he just wants to be please all the time and would be ideal for agility. He is good in the car and is crate trained but only at night and for a couple of hours in day if needed. He has attended basic training class.
Rehoming criteria: He will need as secure garden and where new owner will not leave on own for hours at a time as he is only a baby. He is eager to please and would adore the one to one training that he needs. so is looking for someone who would spend time with him doing agility, flyball etc. He would love to be a second addition to a family and have someone to play with.

Okay but has not lived with toddlers.
Able to live with cats: He is not good with cats,

Happy Ending: Emma has gone to a new home in the country which is offering some fun agility activities as part of her overall training. (19/02/2008)

EMMA

History: Emma was rescued from Wales just before Christmas. No prior history is available for her but her excellent temperament and behaviour suggest that she has not suffered any mal-treatment or abuse during her short life.
Description: Emma is a B & W Collie who is amazingly calm and well mannered for such a young dog. She is just a little bewildered by her change in circumstances but keen to please.
Rehoming criteria: She is friendly with other dogs and would probably benefit from joining a home with an established dog or dogs. Emma is quite small and slight (currently about 17 inches at the shoulder) and fast on her feet so she may suit someone looking for a midi agility dog to bring on during the year.

She is very laid back in a home environment but Fudge can be a little worried by strangers until she gets to know them. HOOCH

History: Hooch is the last of four hand rear Border Collie pups. Sadly his mother was only a baby herself and could not cope with being a mum and tried to kill her own litter.
Description: Hooch is a typical little puppy, full of fun and mischief. He adores being into everything you do. Loves people ok with cats although does like to see if they will play with him and my one does have a game or too of chase with him and winds him up!
