Amendments to KC Agility (H) Regulations

At its meeting on Tuesday, 12 April 2005, the General Committee approved recommendations made by the Working Trials, Obedience and Agility Sub-Committee following detailed discussion of the results of the Referendum and consultation process considered at the Agility Liaison Council’s meeting held on 16th February 2005.  The minutes of this particular meeting were published at the end of February.

Kennel Club Regulations have now been amended to reflect the agreed alterations to the change of name for each category of dog, the change of height limit for dogs, the change in obstacle heights and the introduction of Championship Status for medium dogs.

As published in the Agility Council Minutes there will be further discussion on effective changes to the eligibility and schedule of classes which will be reported later in the year.

AMENDMENTS TO KENNEL CLUB AGILITY (H) REGULATIONS

The following amendments to the 'H' Regulations are effective from 1 January 2006

Large (currently Standard) Dogs, Medium (currently Midi) Dogs and Small (currently Mini) Dogs

Change of Height Limit for Dogs to:

          Large Dogs

Those dogs measuring over 430mm (1ft 5ins) at the withers.

Due to the fact that the new large dog height category has a minimum height, all dogs that have not competed prior to 1st January 2006 must be measured before competing.  Dogs must be a minimum of 15 months before being measured.  A second and final measurement must be carried out on the dog between 12 and 24 months after the first.

Medium Dogs

Those dogs measuring over 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) and measuring 430mm (1ft 5ins) or under at the withers.

Small Dogs

Those dogs measuring 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) or under at the withers.

Change In Obstacle Heights to:

Large Dogs

Height between 550mm (1ft 9.6ins) and 650mm (2ft 1.6ins).

Medium Dogs

Height to be between 350mm (1ft 1.75) and 450mm (1ft 5.7ins).

Small Dogs

Height to be between 250mm (9.8ins) and 350mm (1ft 1.75ins).

‘A’ Ramp     Large Dogs to:

Height from ground 1.7m (5ft 7ins)

The General Committee agreed that any dog that qualified during 2005 for a Final(s) held in 2006, irrespective of a later change in height category, would be allowed to compete in the said Final(s).

Championship Status for Medium Dogs

It was also agreed that Medium Dogs would have Championship status from 1st January 2006.
